Sometimes it's necessary to take sides. Thank you for doing that.

I would like to add that a patriarchial mindset that fits so well into their fascist agenda was also the reason for Ms. Good's murder. She was non-violent, calm, smiling, and turning her car away from the ICE agent when she was shot. Many women see this differently! Renee Good's mistake and that of her partner — they were not scared of a man who represented fascist thuggery. He expected them to be scared of him, but they mocked him. Fascists can take insults, but can't take mockery and sarcasm from two conscientious women, because women showing they are not afraid of ICE bullies trivializes their authority!

I have always enjoyed Marc's posts and comments and this is no different. Everything the Crisis and Transition team has laid out for how to correct the course of our country is, for me, the best path forward. Americans need to realize we have become a global community and it is so important to continue to develop those global ties with other countries and people. I cannot speak for anyone else, but I have so many friends from all around the world. People I have met through substacks and have developed friendships with are constantly propping me up and telling me to just keep fighting and resisting. Our world, thanks to technology, is like one huge community and it is important that we accept that as we move forward. Yes, there are many things we need to correct in our government, but we must also focus on the problems that exist in our environment as well. What good will having a functioning government of, for and by the people when we don't have a planet for that functioning government to work? Many Americans have chosen to bury their heads in the sand about all of it. The problems that exist in our government, in our environment and our relationship with countries around the world. Choosing to ignore what is going on around us has led us to this crisis. There are so many fires to put out at once it may seem completely overwhelming! We must continue to unite, to fight and to resist. We must get our country under control again and begin to address all the concerns and issues facing us. Yes, the big picture is important for everyone to see; however, to get to the big picture we need to work on the pieces that fit together to make that picture a reality. I am working right now to campaign for candidates that I believe will help move us closer to those goals. Young candidates that have a vision of what they want for America. Several of them have refused to belong to either republican or democrat, but are independents. It is their message, their plan, their strategy to implement that plan and how it will be funded that I am paying attention to. Thank you, Marc. Your insights into our problems always provide clarity for me and I appreciate that.

This nightmare was as predictable as it was preventable. The shooter’s father “couldn’t be more proud,” a quote that will live in infamy. There will be bestsellers deconstructing Jonathan Ross, his upbringing and his training since, at least in my experience, it’s atypical for a US military veteran to shoot an unarmed mother in the face. These links give some background info. What’s missing is Renee Good saying “I’m not mad at you,” before she was killed. Was “F*cking B*tch” the last thing she heard?

ISO, thanks for the two links. I read the articles and found them very informational. It’s good to know some of the background of the shooter and the trauma he has endured previously that might have caused him to shoot the driver. The fact that he endured the trauma of being dragged by a car for the length of a football field and had a heavily damaged arm still does not excuse him for shooting Ms. Good.
